Benedict Kiely

 Benedict Kiely (1919-2007) was born in Omagh in 1919. He was awarded honorary doctorates by the National University of Ireland and the Queen’s University, Belfast. In 1996 he received the highest honour of Aosdána, the Irish artists’ body, when he was elected a Saoi, in recognition of his contribution to literature.
