New Island's children's imprint launched!

March 18th saw the launch of Little Island, New Island's children's imprint, and its first six books. The conference and exhibition rooms of Pearse Street Library were packed to the rafters with both kids and adults munching on Elaina's delicious cupcakes and Little Island's beautiful birthday cake. (Check out the photos below if you don't believe me!)

Speaking at the event, Orlaith McBride of the National Association for Youth Drama and the Arts Council, said she was delighted to see a specifically Irish children's publishing imprint being born into a market too much saturated with UK and American children's literature. She also commended the translations Little Island published and having read all of the books, was confident they'd be well received by kids.

Siobhán Parkinson, publisher of Little Island, went on to interview a readers' panel of kids about the books.
