Deirdre Purcell
Deirdre Purcell was born in 1945, and had a background in theatre and journalism, before starting to write fiction full-time in the early 1990s. Her bestsellers include A Place of Stones (1991), Falling for a Dancer (1994), Love, Like, Hate, Adore (1997, shortlisted for the prestigious Orange Prize), Marble Gardens (2002), The Secret (2006) and Somewhere in Between (2007). Recently she has started publishing non-fiction books, including Diamonds and Holes in my Shoes (2006), Follow me Down to Dublin (2007) and Days we Remember (2008).
