Anne Chambers

Anne Chambers, historian and biographer, was born in County Mayo and educated at Castlebar and UCC. Her works include Granuaile: The Life and Times of Grace O'Malley (1979, revised 1998), Chieftain to Knight: Tibbott-ne-Long Bourke, First Viscount of Mayo (1983), Eleanor, Countess of Desmond (1986), La Sheridan, Adorable Diva, a biography of Margaret Burke Sheridan (1989), and a novel, The Geraldine Conspiracy (1995). In 2004, New Island published her At Arm's Length: Aristocrats in the Republic of Ireland, which was reprinted in paperback the following year. Chambers has also written a number of documentaries for RTÉ and is co-author of film scripts.
